For the first-ever TEDx Tacoma in 2012, I was invited to share a story that explored the importance of design innovation.
One of the most important design innovations in my childhood – the improvements to the Amigo mobility cart. My mother first started using one when I was in 4th grade. After that, no memory of my mother is without the whirring electric engine of her cart. The cat loved when she would take him for rides on it. My sisters and I cursed it when we had to dismantle it and load it in the back of the car.
In this story, I recall a few iconic moments where the design of the Amigo was a critical plot motivator.
